LECTURE "When women affected by trauma give birth"

What we mean by trauma today is subject to change. The focus is no longer on the triggering event itself, but on the individual experience and not least its consequences. Pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum are life events that go hand in hand with a series of physical and psychological changes. The latest studies show that the woman's experience in this phase can be traced back to individual and continuous support, as well as to her conscious and self-determined experience, especially in interpersonal interactions. The feeling of security depends on certain signals from the environment and our relationships.

With my clients, I very often not only observe numerous previous stresses such as operations or hospital stays, which have a strong influence on the course of the birth, but also a less flexible interaction with the specialist staff in terms of their wishes, ideas and, last but not least, important decisions.
